Darwin
At the helm of REEF, Canada-born Berlin-based DJ and label-owner Darwin has been responsible for bringing the bleeding edge of UK soundsystem music to techno’s capital city.
Darwin founded REEF in 2014: a series of 24-hour raves that connects the dots between low-end-focused genres and breakbeat-centric styles. Hosted at the now sadly defunct Griessmuehle, REEF found a new home at the world’s most infamous club, Berghain, where Darwin hosts a full takeover of the club 3 times a year. She also channels her avidity for UK-centric sounds into her label SPE:C, which focuses on up-and-coming acts from around the globe.
Alexandra
Deeply in love with vinyl, drawing her inspiration from various artists, styles of music, arts or other life pleasures, Alexandra doesn't want to be labeled under some specific music genres.
Her curiosity and passion for music drove her through the journey into the electronic music environment of Romania and later around the world. First she wrote articles for ClubbingMag (the first Romanian clubbing magazine).
Then she joined the Sunrise Booking Agency and [a:rpia:r] label team to put up a lot of beautiful electronic music events (like the now world-renowned, goose-bumps generator Sunwaves Festival) and to promote some of the most talented Romanian artists.
Her debut as a DJ came in 2009, the starting point of a wondrous and fascinating trip that took her over three continents: Tokyo, New York, Miami, Lima, Santiago de Chile, Berlin, London, Ibiza, Moscow, Paris and most of the European countries have danced to her joyful and driven-to-unexpected sets.
In 2016 Alexandra teams-up with Vera to create in Berlin their first electronic music label called Melliflow and they also started to host their own label showcases in Germany’s capital city, at Club der Visionaere and Hoppetosse.
Although she declares herself a DJ to the bone, in 2018 Alexandra joined Pîrvu for her first explorations in the field of electronic music productions, under the project The Apricots. Together they compose, but also spin records of alternative music areas: Ambient, Experimental, Downtempo, Trip-Hop and even Hip-Hop.
Starting 2021 Alexandra became broadcaster and creator of her own radio show: “Ears Wide Open” at Black Rhino Radio.
Ana Satana
Ana Secheres operates under the moniker of Ana Satana for all her edgy endeavors, may they be musical, organisational, mystical or just simply wireless. She has been a selector in the Bucharest scene for a few years now and has dabbled a bit with the international one as well.
She plays regularly in local clubs and in the rest of the time keeps busy by organising live acts in the past and the newly created Avoidance of Seance party series, with Platforma Wolff or working on radio shows for Noods Radio in Bristol, as ½ of Intersections, in the past and currently for Black Rhino Radio, monthly. You might also see her take photos for small publications occasionally and still applies all her knowledge as a visual artist in everything she undertakes. She has done streams, talks and is still very much open to any interesting propositions, especially ones that require dancing in the dark. Ana Satana is also hosting the Avoidance of Seancé.
