Ex-Friendly is a DJ, producer and music journalist who has been in the game for over three decades and has the record collection to prove it. As a DJ, he has played at events from Bristol and Berlin clubs to a fortress in Spain, and as half of Nottingham-based music and party collective Truth & Lies, has longtime residencies at the award-winning Houghton and Africa Oye festivals. He is also a resident DJ on Totally Wired Radio and Radio Alhara with guest spots on NTS, Worldwide, Reform Radio, Melodic Distraction, Jazz FM, Dublab Brasil & more. Spinning genre-defying sounds from across the globe, you can expect to hear African, Arabic, South & Latin American, Caribbean, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop, Jazz, Reggae and more.
As a music producer, Ex-Friendly has had various EP and remix releases on Tangential Music, Spirit Wrestlers, Hot Digits, Deep Explorer, People Are Looking At You, Midnight Riot and ISM Records.
With his journalist hat on, as well as editing the Truth & Lies Music blog for over a decade, his writing has also graced the pages of esteemed music publications like Songlines, Wax Poetics, Jazzwise and Ransom Note, as well as crafting sales notes for various independent labels and artists.
