Iulia-Andreea Smeu (KITE) is a composer/improviser and violinist based in Basel, Switzerland. Classically trained, she has expanded her practice to include free improvisation and sound design, also developing a multidisciplinary artistic language based on artistic research that integrates immersive and participatory sound installations with visual elements.
Her artistic practice aims at individual and social transformation through the power of sound to re-contextualize human experience, exploring concepts of identity and relation in fictional contexts and distorted subjective realities, with a critical view on technological mediation.
