In November, while I was in Berlin, I met with Joe and Nir, two members of Move 78, a band that surprised me in the last couple of years. We recorded the interview at Joe’s place, over ginger-lemon tea with honey, and talked about their background, the artists they love, their process of making music, their new album, and the wishes they have for what’s next.

Move 78 are a Berlin-based band blending improvised jazz, drum-heavy hip-hop, and experimental audio collage. The core line-up includes Doron Segal (keyboards), Nir Sabag (drums), Hal Strewe (bass), Meravi Goldman (French horn) and Aver (sampler/production). They also collaborate frequently with artists from the Berlin scene and beyond, including Douniah, Aquiles Navarro, Ayjay Nils, and Eric Owusu.
